Indonesian coffees come from the countries of Sumatra, Sulawesi, East Timor, Papua New Guinea and Java. Indonesia is the forth largest coffee producing region in the world. However, these regions only cultivate a small portion of Arabica beans and are highly sought after. Today close to 92% of Indonesia’s coffee production is in the hands of small farmers or cooperatives using traditional processing techniques that add a layer of complexity not found in other specialty coffees. Specialty coffee from this region are also know the names of Bali, Kalosi, Gayo, Papua, and Mandheling.
