Roaster Tasting Notes:
Brought to you by the Las Nubes and El Chimborraso cooperatives, this Nicaraguan coffee is grown on small farms between 4,000 and 4,600 feet and is of the Caturra varietal. Don Sabas Ochoa Gomez is 78 years old, still works on the farm with his family, and is part of the Las Nubes Coop. The prices that Don Sabas received for his coffee this year were his highest ever, and he plans to use the money to improve his access to water, and make improvements to his farm. His message to those who drink his product? “My coffee is of EXCELLENT quality.” We agree completely.
One of the five offerings through our Direct Trade program in Nicaragua, this coffee is medium bodied with a pleasant tartness, and sweet, cherry flavor. Additionally, it is a peaberry, a mutation in which the two halves of the coffee bean fuse together to form one round bean -- a rare treat!
